The Border Security Force on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid along the India-Pakistan border in Kutch district of Gujarat, official sources in the BSF said.

"A group of infiltrators coming in a boat tried to enter our territory through Harami Nala, a shallow water channel near pillar number 1175 of the international border at approximately 12.30 am," sources said.

"The occupants of the boat started firing on the BSF men following which they retaliated. The firing continued for about three hours, after which they fled," sources said.

BSF officials said that there were no injuries on their side. However, they said there was no information regarding any injury to the intruders.

Top BSF officials have rushed to Lakhpat to review the situation after the incident.

The creek area, where the Harami Nala is situated, is a hostile terrain made up of raised grounds with mangroves and a network of channels, which are shallow and where all movements are creek-dependent.
