"He is not even a relative, much less a nephew. There is no question of any relations with him," Bansal said.
Garg was arrested after he surrendered before a Delhi court, which remanded him in CBI custody till May 9.
The court allowed the custodial interrogation of Garg who surrendered before the court after "coming to know through media reports that the CBI is searching for him in the alleged bribery case."
A close aide of Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla, Panchkula-resident Garg said in his application to the court that "through media reports I came to know that I have been named as an accused in the alleged bribery case. I am voluntarily surrendering myself in the court to cooperate with the CBI in the ongoing investigation."
The CBI is probing the alleged bribery in Railways' senior appointments. Railway Board Member (Staff) Mahesh Kumar was arrested by the CBI on Friday for allegedly paying Rs 90 lakh to Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla through a Bangalore-based businessman for managing a coveted post in the Railway Board.
