Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh urged the chief ministers to maintain people-to-people contact along the interstate border to strengthen peace and harmony. He also urged both the CMs to find an amicable solution to the border row.
The boundary dispute between Assam and Nagaland dates back to 1963, when Nagaland was carved out of Assam.
In 1988, the Assam government petitioned the Supreme Court seeking its intervention to resolve the boundary dispute.
