April 15, 2006 22:59 IST

Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari Saturday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the twin blasts at the historic mosque in which 14 people were injured.

The Imam told reporters that he asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who visited the Jama Masjid Saturday evening, to order a thorough probe into Friday's blasts.

He also said he had requested Dr Singh to include the blasts at the Sankat Mochan Mandir in Varanasi into the probe by the investigating agency.

The prime minister agreed with the demand and said he would look into it, he added.
