Blasts began after Advani's rath yatra: Digvijay

After giving 'Sanghi terrorism' tag to saffron outfits, Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Saturday alleged that the sequence of blasts in the country began after L K Advani's rath yatra and stopped after arrest of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha activists in terror cases.

"Behind all the blasts in the country are people having fanatic ideology and the sequence of blast cases began after the rath yatra of Advani and since the RSS people have been caught, it has been stopped," Singh said at a 'Meet the Press' programme in Jaipur.

Noting that the blast cases, be it of Malegaon or Ajmer dargah, are linked with each other with the accused having same organisational affiliations, he said all these cases be handed over to the National Investigative Agency for effective and speedy investigation.

"Involvement of RSS activists in several cases of bomb blasts has already come to light. In Madhya Pradesh, an RSS activist was killed in an explosion during bomb-making in 2006 while Bajrang Dal activists were also killed in another similar case which shows their involvement in such activities," the Congress general secretary said.

"Sunil Joshi, who had been involved in 2007 Ajmer dargah bomb blast and some other similar cases, was murdered and it is suspected that he was killed by the people of his own organisation (RSS)," he said.

He said that since police in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh cannot investigate the case, it should be transferred to a central agency.

"Different agencies are conducting separate probes into blast cases, but in my opinion, all the cases should be handed over to NIA and the trial should be run in one court for having uniformity and speedy investigation and trial," he said.

He also asked the RSS chief to divulge how many of its activists with the mindset to create terror are still active in the country.

"Mohan Bhagwat has accepted the existence of RSS workers having such mindset, so we want to ask him that why they did not inform police about such people well in time, and how many workers are still active in RSS who have such mindsets and ideology," he said.

He said that the Congress party has always been against fanaticism and terrorism.

"We are not against any organisation or person, but against the ideology which was behind the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, rift between Hindu and Muslim," he said.

Talking about price rise, the Congress general secretary said collective efforts by the Central and state governments were needed to control it.

"It is a matter of demand and supply and the union and state governments' collective efforts are needed to control the skyrocketing prices," Singh said.
