Pak: 4 killed, 50 hurt in Faisalabad blast

A powerful explosion occurred near the office of an intelligence agency in the central Pakistani city of Faisalabad, killing at least four persons and injuring nearly 50 others.

The blast destroyed dozens of cars, a CNG station and at least three buildings near the intelligence agency's office in the Civil Lines area of Faisalabad.

Several people were feared to be buried in the rubble of buildings that collapsed due to the explosion.

Police officials told the media that at least four persons were killed.

Other officials said at least a dozen of the injured were in

a serious condition.

Officials said they were trying to determine whether the blast was caused by the accidental explosion of CNG cylinders at the station or a bomb.

Ambulances rushed the injured to nearby hospital.

Workers from the state-run Rescue 1122 service removed rubble with their hands to pull people out of the debris.

Footage on television showed several cars on fire at the CNG station.

Other cars were buried under rubble from the CNG station and collapsed buildings.

Rescue workers helped several injured persons, their clothes stained with blood, into ambulances.
