Nitish 'opposed to BJP's tiranga yatra plan'

In a major set back to Bharatiya Janata Party's controversial 'Tiranga Yatra,' National Democratic Alliance key ally Janata Dal-United's senior leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that he was against it.

"I am not in support of Tiranga Yatra. I am against it," Nitish Kumar, who is running a government with the BJP in Bihar, told mediapersons in Patna on Monday.

"Tiranga Yatra ka koi auchitya nahin hain," Nitish Kumar said in chaste Hindi when asked about his stand on BJP's yatra, where it plans to hoist the national triclour at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Republic Day, something on which Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Central government have revealed reservations.

Nitish Kumar said 'he did not support the Tiranga Yatra to Kashmir given the kind of tension that is prevailing in the Valley, this yatra has no meaning.'

Nitish Kumar made it clear that though it is an internal matter of the BJP, 'I am opposed to the plan.'

"My party president Sharad Yadav has also opposed it," Kumar added.
