The second day of the Bharatiya Janata Party's national executive in Bengaluru further fuelled speculations about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi emerging as a successor to the party's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani.
Modi took centrestage on Saturday, and released a three-page handout about the failures of the United Progressive Alliance in the fields of national security, Amarnath Row, Ram Sethu and a host of other issues.

BJP spokesperson Ananth Kumar had a tough time, trying to field the many questions put forth by mediapersons, about Modi emerging as the heir apparent to Advani.
The reporters asked him a range of questions including when Modi would take over the mantle from Advani and party chief Rajnath Singh's reaction to the Gujarat chief minister's steady rise.

However, Kumar stuck to his standard reply and said that the party's immediate goal was to ensure that Advani becomes the next PM. He reiterated that Advani had the blessings of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
