"I had a brief telephonic talk with Vajpayee and told him about my views about the party's problems," Patel said.

"I will try to meet the rest of the top leaders, including L K Advani and party president Venkaiah Naidu, during the course of the last day's [national executive] meeting today," he said.

Asked if he had ever talked to the CM about the dissidence problem in the state, he said, "I have talked to Modi about it twice. He told me that the MLAs tell me something else and some other thing to you. Do not go by them as they talk differently."

Patel said Modi had realised the problem and started talking to the MLAs individually.

On the change in leadership in the state, he said, "It is very difficult to say anything right now. It is a matter of time. Central leadership will decide on this issue."
