The Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership, which had issued show cause notices to two of its MPs in Karnataka, has now suspended them. J Shantha and S Pakiruppa from the Bellary and Raichur constituencies have been suspended for anti-party activities.
It was alleged that the two were openly campaigning in favour of former BJP minister B Sriramulu, who is contesting the by poll after he resigned from the party. K S Eshwarappa, state president of the BJP while confirming the news said that he had complained to the central leadership about this following which action has been taken.
Eshwarappa had dashed off letters to both BJP leaders L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj, who agreed to suspend the two MPs.
