Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Monday escaped with minor injuries when a portion of the dais at an election rally crumbled due to overcrowding at Sajangi ground in Bhagalpur.
As Lalu alighted from his helicoptor and headed for the dais, a large number of slogan-shouting supporters led by the party candidate from Nathnagar, Pervez Khan, rushed to the platform.
A portion of the dias crumbled as party supporters jostled with each other, prompting Pervez Khan and others to lend support to the RJD chief and prevent him from tripping, police said.
Lalu went on to address the gathering despite suffering bruises on his hands.
