A Bihar councilor with a criminal record has alleged that a Union minister for state paid him Rs 5 lakh to kill a deputy mayor.

Ward councilor of the Darbhanga municipal corporation Allan Khan on Tuesday said before an executive magistrate that Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development M A A Fatmi gave a supari (a contract to kill) of Rs 5 lakh to kill Darbhanga Deputy Mayor Babby Khan.

Bobby Khan, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, has also filed a case against Fatmi in Darbhanga.

Darbhanga town DSP Pervej Akhtar confirmed to rediff.com that an FIR has been lodged against Fatmi and others in connection with a conspiracy to kill Babby Khan.

The police on Monday arrested five criminals apart from Allan Khan. Allan Khan is considered to be close to Fatmi.

Akhtar said the police will interrogate Fatmi in this matter in view of Allan Khan's confession.

Fatmi is a Rashtriya Janata Dal Lok Sabha MP. He is reportedly close to RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and jailed RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin.
