Additional District and Sessions Judge B K Tripathi, pronounced the quantum of punishment to Kumar, special public prosecutor M K Sharma said.
The court on Wednesday found him guilty under sections 6 and 9 of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offence Act and sections 376 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code for sodomising and sexually abusing some children in the orphanage.
In October 2013, Kumar was arrested, following a complaint of some children. The then district magistrate of Vaishali had ordered a probe into the allegations against Kumar.
A medical examination of the victims had confirmed that they had been sexually abused by the accused. “The medical examination has revealed that accused had committed unnatural sex with children,” a police official said
According to district officials, the shocking incident came to light after a child died and other 10 fell sick after consuming contaminated food at orphanage run by Kumar in October last year.
