Eleven Maoists, including the prime accused of the Jehanabad jail-break incident, were arrested in Bihar's Gaya district during combing operations early on Monday morning, police sources said.
The police arrested 11 Maoists including the elusive Sanjay Yadav, who was involved in Jehanabad jail-break in November 2005, from a village under Atri police station in Gaya.
Police sources in Gaya told
rediff.com over phone that, the Maoists were
arrested when they gathered in a village to 'chalk out their plan for next attack.'
"After an intelligence report, a police team raided the village and arrested the Maoists, along with country-made pistols, guns and ammunition" a police official said.
Gaya and its neighbouring districts of Aurangabad, Jehanabad and Arwal are regarded as a stronghold of the Maoists. In rural Bihar, complaints of extortion by the rebels during construction and development work are common, and often lead to projects being stalled.
