Bihar cop shot dead inside police station

A police officer in-charge was among the two persons who were shot dead by a former village head over a property dispute at the Juravanpur police station in Bihar's Vaishali district, a police officer said on Wednesday.

Juravanpur police station officer in-charge, Anil Kumar and Sudhir Kumar, son of a policeman, were shot at by former mukhiya of Juravanpur Barari Panchayat Sri Kant Rai following a heated exchange over a property dispute on Wednesday, Superintendent of police Suresh Prasad Chaudhury said.

The injured persons died on their way to Patna Medical College and Hospital, he said.

The bodies were brought to the police line on Thursday in the morning and a guard of honour was given to the departed police officer, the SP said, adding arrangements were being made to transport the body of Anil Kumar to his native village in Madhubani district.
