Bihar police have made further arrests in the Nalanda district groping case and are warning against sharing the video online, emphasising the severity of the crime and the victim's privacy rights.
Six more people were arrested for allegedly groping a woman and dragging her on a street in full public view in Bihar's Nalanda district, police said on Wednesday.
With this, a total of eight people were arrested in connection with the incident, a purported video clip of which has gone viral on social media, they said.
The incident took place in the Noor Sarai area a few days ago, they added.
"Eight accused have been arrested so far, and raids are being conducted to apprehend other persons involved," police said in a statement.
"The video related to the incident is being shared online by some individuals, which constitutes a serious offence and violates the victim's privacy as well as provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act 2000," they said, asking people not to share any objectionable or sensitive content related to the case.
"Strict legal action will be taken under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act against those found disseminating such material," they said.
