Sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna, who skipped Central Bureau of Investigation questioning in the Bhanwari Devi disappearance case on health grounds, has been hospitalised after he complained of chest pain.
Maderna was taken to the Mathura Das Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur by his family members on Saturday night after he complained of chest pain.
He is admitted to the ICU, hospital sources said on Sunday.
Maderna, who was grilled by the CBI for two consecutive days skipped questioning in connection with the case on Saturday citing ill-health.
Congress on Saturday night suspended Maderna from the primary membership of party.
Action against Maderna was on the cards with the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee contemplating action after a CD purportedly showing him in a compromising position with nurse Bhanwari came into public domain.
The controversy involving Maderna has hit the Ashok Gehlot government amid calls by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party for the chief minister's resignation.
Meanwhile, supporters of Maderna allegedly attacked mediapersons outside the hospital and damaged van of a news channel, police sources said.
Some reporters were trying to talk to Maderna's daughter Divya Maderna on the Bhanwari Devi issue when they were targeted by around 20-25 supporters of the sacked minister, the sources said.
