A Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike corporator died on Saturday after being allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by an unidentified gang here, police said.
Congress corporator from Gandhinagar ward, Nataraj who suffered serious injuries was rushed to Mallige hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said.
"Nataraj was riding a two-wheeler on Malleshwaram bridge at around 11.30 am when he was allegedly waylaid by the gang which had been following him in a car," police said.
The gang members got out of the car and attacked Nataraj with sharp edged weapons and later fled the scene, leaving him profusely bleeding on the road, they said.
