The Bharatiya Janata Party has thrown into the fray two candidates to battle former Karnataka minister B Sriramulu. The BJP has not made a final decision on its own, but has asked two candidates to file their B forms to contest the Bellary Rural by-elections.

The BJP has decided that whosever nomination is accepted by the election commission would contest the election against Sriramulu. The two candidates in the fray are Ashok Kumar, secretary of the BJP state ST Morcha and Naghendra who is the national secretary of the same morcha.

Both of them are first-timers in the election scenario. However the BJP is hoping that their local links will help them.

The Congress meanwhile, has fielded Ramprasad. This person is not new to the constituency, but lost the elections to Sriramulu last time. The Janata Dal-Secular on the other hand, has decided not to field any candidate.
