The BSF on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid by at least 15 Bangladeshis, including women and children, at the Sonarpur border in South Dinajpur district in West Bengal.
District Superintendent of Police Gyanbant Singh told reporters in Balurghat that the group is now camping at a point near the border in Bangladesh and that the BSF is discussing the issue with its Bangladeshi counterpart BDR.
Faced with strong diplomatic pressure from India, Bangladesh had earlier taken back 213 of its nationals from the no-man's-land on the Indo-Bangladesh border on February 6 ending a seven-day impasse.
The 213 Bangladeshis, most of them snake-charmers, were stranded on the no-man's-land after the BDR's attempt to push them into India was foiled by the BSF.
