Bangalore assassination plot: LeT operative arrested

The National Investigation Agency has picked a key Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative who was allegedly planning the assassination of prominent Hindu leaders. Known as the Bangalore assassination plot, the case made headlines when several persons were picked up allegedly for plotting the assassination of pro-Hindu journalists and other leaders.

The NIA picked up Dr Imran Ahmed alias Immu Bhai in connection with the case from Kanakapura Road in Bangalore.

The NIA says he was involved in the plot that spread between Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. He is said to have collected funds and also stacked away weapons for the plot.

The NIA says his arrest is an important one since he is the key to finding more operatives part of this plot. The NIA says that he is a Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative and several of his accomplices such as Zakir Ustaad are still holed up in the Gulf.
