The Communist Party of India on Thursday demanded a special package for the uplift of minority communities, particularly for their education and economic welfare.
In a resolution adopted on the last day of the 20th Congress of the party, the CPI also called upon the Union government to take necessary immediate steps to ensure that the Liberhan Commission on the demolition of Babri Masjid submits its report without further delay.
"The 20th Congress of CPI expresses its anguish on the failure of Liberhan Commission inquiring into the Babri Masjid demolition incident even after 15 years ongoing exercise and getting 42 times extensions by the government of India," the resolution said.
"It is surprising that even after going through with the completion of recording of evidence of witnesses and arguments, the commission has failed to submit its findings. So much so that Mumbai High Court had to comment adversely regarding the functioning
and delay in the completion of inquiry by the commission.
