Grenade attack at PDP leader's rally, 3 killed

A public rally addressed by senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir at Tang Marg in the north Kashmir Baramulla district was attacked by militants with a powerful hand grenade, which exploded killing three and injuring 46 persons.

Mir has also suffered injuries.

The injured are being rushed to the Tang Marg hospital, and the critically injured persons have been brought to Srinagar for treatment.

No one has claimed responsibility for Tuesday afternoon's attack.

Meanwhile, the gunbattle between holed up fidayeen and paramilitary forces is continuing at Lal Chowk.

So far, police say four persons, including two paramilitary soldiers were killed and 16 others injured.
