Counting of votes in assembly elections in five states will now be held on March 6, say Election Commission sources.
Previously, the day of counting of votes for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa was scheduled to be on March 4.
Meanwhile, the EC on Monday came under immense pressure to shift the Uttarakhand Assembly elections slated on January 30 to some later date towards the end of February or early March because of snowfall and landslides making some 20 of the total 70 constituencies inaccessible.
