In a daring attack, militants on Wednesday evening targeted vehicles killing two persons and wounding 19, including former Asom Gana Parishad Member of Parliament Prabin Sharma, in the heart of Guwahati.
"Militants attacked four vehicles with grenades fired from a rocket propelled gun in the busy Ambari area," Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Afsar Ali Hazaria said.
He added the injured, including Sharma and several bystanders, were admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Hazaria said the identity of the militants and the motive behind the attack was yet to be ascertained. A massive manhunt was launched to nab the attackers.
