A Railway Protection Special Force inspector identified as Kanwaldeep Singh Siddhu was arrested by Railway Protection Force in Guwahati Railway Station today after he was found carrying illegal arms and ammunition.
A Northeast Frontier Railway spokesman informed that an alert RPF inspector A G Farooq detected one Railway Protection Special Force Inspector named Kanwaldeep Singh Siddhu carrying illegal arms and ammunition at Guwahati railway station and overpowered him before arresting him.
The 39-year-old RPSF inspector is a resident of 581, Ranjeet Nagar, Patiala (Punjab) and now posted at New Jalpaiguri with RPSF 4th Battalion, B-Company. He was caught when RPF Inspector Farooq checked his belongings on suspicion.
Siddhu was found to be carrying one 9 mm Browning pistol, one 9 mm pistol made in Italy and one 9 mm pistol made in Austria.
He was also carrying a magazine of AK-47 Rifle, 70 cartridges of AK-47 rifle and 50 cartridges of .303 rifles. He was later handed over to Government Railway police. Further investigation is on.
