Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi was Monday remanded to judicial custody till February 2 by a court in Andhra Pradesh.

He had surrendered before a court in Medak district in connection with a 2005 case in which he was charged with obstructing a government officer.

Immediately after the order was passed, Owaisi moved the same court seeking bail. This plea would come up for hearing on Tuesday.

After a warrant had been issued against him¸ Owaisi surrendered before the Sanga Reddy court in the Medak district.

Owaisi was present at the court along with his advocate.

Owaisi's brother Akbaruddin is already in judicial custody in connection with a hate speech case. The police are now verifying his voice samples to ascertain whether he was the one who made the speech or not. Akbaruddin had denied that the voice was his.
