The Congress Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh West constituency Takam Sanjay has urged the Centre to focus more on developing the frontier in Arunachal Pradesh after reports of a massive development in China across the border.

"The Centre shouldn't take things lightly in case of Arunachal Pradesh, especially along the porous India-China border. Top priority should be accorded for development of road communication," said Sanjay, who met Defence Minister A K Antony.

The MP requested the defence ministry to take charge of maintenance of all mule tracks along the frontier in Arunachal Pradesh.

Sanjay also requested the defence Minister to set up a base of Indian Air Force (IAF) and strengthen the eight advance landing grounds (ALDs) in the frontier hill state. The IAF now looks after the ALDs in Arunachal Pradesh from its bases at Jorhat, Tezpur and Chabua in Assam.

According to the MP, the defence ministry has agreed to set up more divisions of Indian Army in the state.

The Arunachal Pradesh government had already submitted a proposal to the Centre to set up Arunachal Pradesh Scouts in the line with those in Ladakh and Kumaon which did a splendid job during the Kargil.

The MP regretted China's efforts to stymie a $60 m Asian Development Bank aid for a mega watershed management project for Arunachal Pradesh.

"I have taken up the matter with the finance minister and urged him to use his good office to clear get the project cleared in the next ADB board meeting. Arunachal Pradesh has been a part and parcel of India and cannot be considered a disputed territory," he said.
