Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru is back in the news over an extortion call. Art of Living spokesperson Gireem Govind told rediff.com that the ashram had got calls demanding Rs 42 crore, failing which the organisation would be defamed.
Govind, who is also personal secretary to Sri Sri Ravishankar, said that some of the senior teachers in the ashram had been getting these threatening calls since the past three days. We have informed the police and action is being taken to nab the culprits, Govind said.
When asked about the delay in filing a complaint, Govind said that they had to first look into the matter and act carefully upon it. When asked if they suspected anyone, he said that the ashram and it's people had no enemies.
This incident comes a couple of weeks after a huge ruckus was caused over an alleged 'assassination attempt' on the spiritual guru which turned out to be a farmer shooting at stray dogs.
