With the Indian army launching an e-recruitment portal on Tuesday for ex-servicemen who are looking out for a second career, jobs may just be a mouse click away.
The Army Placement Agency's website -- www.apa.co.in -- will serve as a common platform for 'ex-servicemen on the look out for a second career' and the agencies searching for such persons.
Launching the portal, Army Chief Gen J J Singh said, "This is our endeavour to help our energetic, enterprising and productive retired personnel find suitable jobs."
Singh said the new initiative, which saw nine months of 'hard work' for execution, will open up new avenues, which were otherwise 'restricted' due to the 'large areas of responsibility' bestowed upon the APA.
The website, which will have an 'all India identity and reach', will also spread awareness about the APA.
It will have separate sections for both job hunters as well as potential employers. The registration is free of cost.
A security system has also been installed to check all entries for any possible fraud. The website will also help personnel to prepare resumes, get interview tips and negotiate salaries.
