Army gets top electronic warfare system

The Indian Army on Monday armed with a state-of-the-art Electronic Warfare Communication system.

Christened Samyukta, the system helps identify and jam the enemy's radar and communication frequency bands.

President A P J Abdul Kalam handed over the first set of 26 vehicles fitted with the indigenously developed integrated surveillance system to Chief of Army Staff General N C Vij in Hyderabad in the presence of Defence Minister George Fernandes.

The function was held in the Electronics System Engineering Centre (ELSEC) on the outskirts of the city.
