Army officer killed in firing by Pakistani troops at LoC

A junior commissioned officer was killed when Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire on the Line of Control in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday morning.

The slain JCO was identified as Prakash Chandar.

Pakistani troops opened heavy fire at an army post near the Kaman bridge in the early hours of Monday, said a defence spokesperson.

"The Indian Army has lodged a protest with the Pakistan Army on the hot line," said the defence spokesperson.
