An army jawan committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Friday, officials said.
Sepoy Sandeep Singh shot himself with his service rifle inside a forward post at Kachal, 165 km from Srinagar, they said.
However, the motive behind the army man taking such an extreme step was not known immediately, they added.
