An Amy Colonel, who was visiting his family before joining his new unit in Tezpur, was abducted from his residence in Guwahati, Army sources said on Thursday.
Colonel Dayal Kakoti of the 13-Mahar Regiment was abducted from his residence at Pub Sarania area on Wednesday night by 'unidentified persons', they said.
Kakoti had been recently transferred from Jammu and Kashmir to Tezpur and he was expected to join soon, the sources said.
"Between 8 pm and 10 pm, some unidentified men abducted him from his residence. His family approached the police and lodged an FIR," they said.
The Assam police are in touch with his family.
