Two Railway Protection Force constables allegedly pushed out of a running train a 12-year-old boy, following which passengers went on a rampage at Cherlapally railway station near Hyderabad on Monday night.
The boy fell on the track and lost his left arm and right leg, police sources said on Tuesday.
The mob destroyed the stationmaster's cabin, generator room and some furniture and also roughed up the two constables, they said.
The victim, Vikram, was selling samosas on the Hyderabad-Warangal train. When it reached Cherlapally station, he changed compartments where the police asked for his ticket, passengers said.
However, when the boy failed to produce a ticket, the cops forced him to get down from the train, which had started moving by then, they said.
The passengers stopped the train and went on rampage after seeing the condition of the boy.
Vikram was taken to the Railway Hospital at Secunderabad where his two limbs were amputated, police said.
Hospital sources described his condition as stable.
