Another Chinese boy sells kidney to buy iPad

In the second case of its kind in China, a teenage boy sold his kidney to buy an Apple iPhone and iPad. A 17-year-old high school student from Anhui province, surnamed Wang sold his kidney to buy the expensive gadgets, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Wang confessed to his mother that he sold one of his kidneys when questioned how he got money for a new iPhone and iPad. Wang now suffers from renal insufficiency and his condition is deteriorating, the report said.

A surgeon and four others have been arrested and are facing charges of illegal organ trading and intentional injury             Song Zhongyu, a surgeon from a provincial hospital in Yunnan province who conducted the operation received $35,000 and gave Wang about $3,500.

Last year a 17-year-old Chinese student from Huaishan City sold his kidney to buy iPad-II. The boys were attracted by kidney traders though online chatrooms.
