Judge M L Tahiliyani, who is presiding over the Mumbai terror attacks trial, on Thursday issued a notice on the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.

The notice was issued to Mumbai Mirror Editor Meenal Baghel and a correspondent, asking them to furnish a reply on why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against them.

The judge objected to a report published in the newspaper on Thursday, titled 'Judge reprimands prosecutors involved in 26/11 trial'.

"The correspondent either doesn't understand the meaning of the word 'reprimand' or is trying to unnecessarily malign the name of Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam," the judge said.

"The reporter," Judge Tahiliyani added, "has either not followed court proceedings or he was not present in court or he must have gathered the story from someone else."
