The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday stayed all further proceedings, including arrest of Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter Kavitha.

Police had initiated criminal proceedings against Kavitha, President of Telangana Jana Jagruthi, a cultural outfit of TRS, on her statement for calling upon the TRS activists to prohibit the release of Telugu cinema 'Adurs', in which Jr NTR (grandson of late N T Rama Rao) played lead role.

Kavitha gave the call in attempt to protest against the activities of certain film directors and producers who have been canvassing for 'Samaikya Andhra' (United Andhra Pradesh), which is against creation of a separate statehood for Telangana region, police said.

The petitioner contended that she did not give any provocative statement as such and that she only expressed her dissent over the activities of certain film producers and directors who had been insulting the Telangana sentiments.

Kavitha claimed that she has every democratic right to convey her point of view and there is no proof of she having done anything to instigate the people to indulge in arson and looting and that the charges made against her were ill-founded and poltically motivated.

She also alleged that framing of the case was an abuse of the process of the court to sub-serve political ends of certain people. Justice P Swaroop Reddy after hearing granted stay of all further proceedings, including her arrest.
