Amritsar: Pakistani national shot dead by BSF

A Pakistani national was allegedly shot dead by Border Security Force officials while another managed to escape after an encounter at the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar.

The encounter took place at Khemkaran village, nearly 45 km away from Amritsar, when a BSF night patrolling party observed some suspicious movements at the Indo-Pak border late on Wednesday, a BSF spokesperson said.

On being watched closely, it was found that two Pakistani nationals had entered into Indian territory. They fired gun shots at the night patrolling party when they were asked to surrender.

The unit in retaliation fired twenty rounds of fire, following which one Pakistani intruder was killed but the other managed to escape, he said.

During frisking, 13 kilogram heroin worth Rs 65 crore in the international market, a 9 mm caliber pistol, 10 live cartridges along with two magazines, one kilogram opium and fake Indian currencies were recovered from the unidentified Pakistani national, he added.
