Launching a frontal attack on the Samajwadi Party leadership, Amar Singh on Thursday said he was capable of winning Lok Sabha elections from the seats held by party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's kin, including son Akhilesh.

Reacting to party spokesperson Mohan Singh's demand that he should resign from the Rajya Sabha on "moral grounds", Amar Singh said, "I am not against Mulayam Singh and I will not contest against him. But I am ready to accept the challenge of returning to Parliament on my own. I request Mulayamji to get the Kannauj and Badayun seats vacated and I will contest against Akhilesh Singh (from Kannauj) and his nephew Dharmendra (Badaun)."

He added it was his own decision to resign from key party posts and "I don't want to be a part of the party's present or future. As far as being the part of SP's past is concerned, it was my own decision to disassociate myself with the party's past and I am proud of being associated with it".

Asked if he would contest against Mulayam's kin, Singh said, "There is no other option as too much is being said against me in the name of Mulayam Singh Yadav."
