Four persons on Friday arrested and a large haul of crude bombs, petrol bombs and sharp weapons recovered during combing operation in Shahpur and Kalupur areas in Ahmedabad, police said.
"Combing operations were conducted in Shahpur and Kalupur areas, which have been experiencing communal violence since Monday," Deputy Commissioner of Police S M Katara told mdiapersons in Ahmedabad.
"A number of sharp weapons, crude bombs, petrol bombs, bags filled with soda bottles and stones, and large cans filled with kerosene have been found during the combing operations in Shahpur," he said.
Katara, said that the houses from where these items were found were deserted and their owners were on the run. During combing operation in Kalupur, 10 crude bombs were recovered following which four persons were arrested and a case against them was registered, police said.
No incident of violence was reported in Shahpur and Kalupur areas on Friday. Nine persons were arrested yesterday for violence in which over 21 persons were injured. Two companies of Rapid Action Force and six companies of State Reserve Police have been deployed in the sensitive areas.
