Bharatiya Janata Party leader S S Ahluwalia has been appointed advisor to Speaker of Lok Sabha to recommend the mode and format of digitalisation of the Parliamentary library.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar accepted the recommendations of many MPs from the BJP and the Congress to appoint Ahluwalia. Accordingly, an internal order has been issued.

Ahluwalia can retain his Gurudwara Rekab Ganj government bungalow for one year, but will receive no salary. This facility was a gesture to recognise his expertise in digitalisation.

Ahluwalia, as deputy leader of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha introduced a 'paperless' system. It was his ideas to digitalise the Parliament question and answer papers and even dispatch the day-to-day bulletins to MPs through the internet.
