Sticking to his demand for revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from those areas where normalcy has returned, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the move will ensure that benefits of peace in the state percolate to all sections of the society.
Revocation of AFSPA in areas where the role of Army has ended due to the restoration of peaceful situation will allow all sections of the society to reap the benefits of peace, he said at a function in Bandipora, 45 km from Srinagar.
Without naming opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Omar said it is playing politics over the AFSPA revocation issue.
The chief minister, who was speaking at a function after launching the comprehensive management action plan for the conservation of world famous 'Wular' Lake, said a peaceful and prosperous J&K is his mission.
"We would take all efforts in this direction," he said.
The Wular conservation management action plan envisages survey demarcation, catchment conservation, water management, bio-diversity conservation, eco-tourism development, sustainable resources development, enhancement of livelihood earning capacity and institutional development.
