Investigations into the Adarsh co-operative housing society scam is gathering pace as Central Bureau of Investigation officials from Mumbai have started recording the statement of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

The questioning is being done at Shinde's official residence in Delhi. A team of CBI officials reached Delhi last night to secure the requisite permission for questioning Shinde. 

Shinde's role has come under the scanner for increasing the Floor Space Index that was granted to Adarsh co-operative housing society. Shinde was the chief minister between 2002 and 2003 when Ashok Chavhan was the revenue minister. 

Sources in CBI confirm that former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh too will be questioned in a couple of days. Armed with a Bombay high court directive, CBI officials are all set to question political bigwigs including Ashok Chavhan in the days to come.
