Activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad burnt an effigy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on Friday evening to protest the transfer of 224.02 acres of land to Aligarh Muslim University by the state government for establishing the AMU Kishanganj Centre.
Members of ABVP the student wing of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party -- also raised slogans against Nitish Kumar and demanded the withdrawal of the land transfer.
The BJP is an ally of Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United in Bihar.
ABVP has been opposing the opening of the AMU centre at Kishanganj since the proposal was mooted by the Union government.
After much delay, the officials of the state government and AMU Vice Chancellor P K Abdul Aziz signed an agreement in this regard in Kishanganj
