The condition of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who underwent a surgery for an intestinal problem, is steadily improving but it would take at least a week before he can be discharged from hospital.
"There has been a steady improvement in his condition and he continues to remain stable," sources at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai said on Saturday.
It would be around a week before Amitabh will be discharged, they said, adding that he had been talking to family members and visitors.
He was on intravenous fluids, supplemented with antibiotics and vitamins, the sources said.
After a successful operation was performed for perforated diverticulitis of the small intestine on the 63-year-old actor on November 30, his physical parameters continue to remain normal, suggesting that the healing process of the wound caused by perforation is also taking up smoothly, they said.
The hospital, meanwhile, continued to witness a steady stream of well-wishers and Bollywood stars. A large number of fans gathered outside the hospital gates as well.
