The awards were conferred at a function organised to celebrate the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin'sĀ silver jubilee.

Accepting the honour, Parikh said his commitment to AAPI and to the cause of healthcare and medicine remains strong as ever.

AAPI, which has over 45,000 members in its ranks, is billed as one of the most powerful organisations that takes up with the US administration issues relating to doctors, especially those of Indian origin.

Parikh is a practising consulting allergist in the United States. He has received international acclaim in the treatment of allergy, asthma, and immunology.

The citation described him as a tireless advocate for both the community's interests as well as India's global interests.

Parikh, it added, is a staunch ally to Indians everywhere. Working as a strong proponent of India's interests, Parikh has provided needed support, guidance, and funding to countless worthy causes and organisations and continues to do so.
