The anaylsis also shows that eight ministers have serious charges, including cases related to attempt to murder, communal disharmony, kidnapping and electoral violations, against them.
Uma Bharti, who now heads the water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation portfolios, has a case related to attempt to murder registered against her. In addition to that, she also has a case of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language against her. Another case of illegal payments in connection to an election has also been filed against her.
Upendra Kushwaha, appointed as minister of state for rural development, panchayati raj, drinking water and sanitation, also has a case related to bribery against him. Similarly, Ram Vilas Paswan, who has been handed the ministries of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, also has a case of bribery registered againt him.
Gopinath Munde, who took over as the minister for rural development, also has a case related to kidnapping or abducting with intent against him.
Crorepati ministers
The report also showed that of the 44 ministers analysed, 40 of them are crorepatis. The report also revealed that the average asset worth per minister is Rs 13.47 crore. Of these, five ministers have declared more than Rs 30 crore worth of assets.
