The slain militants were reportedly members of the Hizbul Mujahideen
A senior police officer said troops of 24 Rashtriya Rifles and local police jointly launched an operation in the Nujwan forest area near Kangan, 35 km from Srinagar.
"Five militants were killed in the gunfight that ended this morning. Searches are still continuing in the area," he said.
