It seems safer in many places to be a cow than a Muslim: Tharoor

July 22, 2018

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor launched a scathing attack against the BJP after the Alwar lynching case.

He said that in several places in the country, it is safer to be a cow than a Muslim.

Left leader Sitaram Yechury has also backed the Congress leader in his comment.

Several other leaders also came out in support of Tharoor."It seems safer in many places to be a cow than a Muslim," he said in a tweet. "Why BJP ministers' claims about reduction in communal violence don't stand up to the facts," he said referring to the recent Alwar case where a Muslim youth was lynched by a mob on suspicion of cow slaughter.

He said that the BJP's claims that lynchings have gone down don't reflect in the situation in the country.
